Water

Possibility of life on this planet without water cannot be entertained.

Even, search for extra terrestrial life by organisations like NASA often boils down to one simple strategy ‘ follow the water’. So water is important, and by its simplest definition is, life. Today, water is under extreme threat.

Assam is endowed with enormous water resources. Surface water is available in the forms of river, stream, lake, swamps, pond etc.

Ground water is available at low to moderate depth almost in entire state. In recent decades, there has been a significant increase in per capita consumption of water in domestic, agricultural and industrial sectors, causing:
• reduction of potential per capita availability of water; &
• deterioration of water quality

43.28 percent of households in Assam have access to safe drinking water in comparison to 55.54 percent of rural households at the all India level. Further, apart from bacteriological vulnerability of supply, handling and use of drinking water, chemical contamination with excess arsenic, iron and fluoride has emerged as a major concern in Assam.

Accessibility to safe water is becoming a major problem for Assam.

We’re on a mission to change that.
